Marc Blucas, born Marcus Paul Blucas on January 11, 1972, in Butler, Pennsylvania, is an American actor renowned for his roles in television and film. He gained prominence for portraying Riley Finn in the popular series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and has since built a diverse career in the entertainment industry. 

Early Life and Education

Raised in Girard, Pennsylvania, Blucas was an accomplished athlete, excelling in basketball during his high school years. His talent on the court earned him a scholarship to Wake Forest University in North Carolina, where he played for the Demon Deacons men's basketball team alongside future NBA star Tim Duncan. After graduating in 1994, Blucas pursued a brief professional basketball career with the Manchester Giants in England. Following his time overseas, he considered a career in law but ultimately chose to follow his passion for acting.

Career Beginnings

Blucas's acting journey began with a role in the 1995 television film Inflammable. His big break came in 1999 when he was cast as Riley Finn in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, where he became a central character in the series. His portrayal of Riley Finn, a soldier and love interest to Buffy Summers, earned him recognition and a dedicated fan base.

Film and Television Roles

Following his success on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Blucas expanded his career with roles in various films and television series. He starred in the romantic comedy First Daughter (2004) alongside Katie Holmes and appeared in the war film We Were Soldiers (2002) with Mel Gibson. Blucas also took on leading roles in thrillers such as Thr3e (2006) and The Killing Floor (2007). In television, he portrayed Matthew Donnelly in the USA Network drama Necessary Roughness from 2011 to 2013. More recently, Blucas has appeared in Hallmark Channel films and the Netflix series My Life with the Walter Boys (2023), where he plays George Walter.

Personal Life

Blucas married journalist Ryan Haddon on July 25, 2009. Together, they have two daughters, and Blucas is also a stepfather to Haddon's two children from her previous marriage to actor Christian Slater. The family resides on a 15-acre farm in rural Pennsylvania, where Blucas has developed a passion for renovating historic homes. In 2024, a tragic incident occurred when his mother-in-law, model and actress Dayle Haddon, passed away from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning at their Bucks County home. Blucas had spent years restoring the 1711 farmhouse, which he had purchased to be closer to family.
